TELESTO CANE CORSO

HORSES

As well as owning Cane Corsos, we also have horses and thought we would share some pictures and information on them with you.

MANI (1994 - 2005)

Mani was a pure Arabian chestnut gelding.  He certainly lived up to the fact that he was an Arab, he was a very lively ride, never walked but jogged constantly.  A lot of people say that Arab's can't jump however I beg to differ, Mani loved to jump prefering natural jumps to poles.  In the time that we had Mani, we did cross country and I hunted with the Braes of Derwent, as well as lots of hacking out around our local area.  I shared some of the best moments of my life with Mani on some of the most fantastic rides across wonderful scenic countryside.  Sadly Mani passed away in April 2005.  He contracted salmonella after having colic surgery and there was nothing that the vet could do to save him, he is a great miss and will never be forgotten.

BURDON BALLEYHAY BOY (NAZ)

Naz is a pure Irish Draft gelding that stands just over 17.2hh.  He is a horse with a great character and is a real gentle giant.  Naz's great love lies with cross country which he excels at as he has no fear and will jump anything!  He also likes show jumping although could be more careful with the poles, and pleasure rides.  He is a laid back horse that loves a bit of fun!  Recently I have started natural horsemanship with Naz which has definately worked and is so much fun, I would urge anyone with horses to try this!

WAINSTONES RIVERDANCE (BENJI)

After Mani passed away in April, I did not really want to replace him, due to both time and the fact that I would never get another horse like him.  A month passed and a friend started looking for another horse.  After much deliberation we decided to buy a foal between us and we started to look around.  We knew exactly what we wanted, a coloured colt or gelding, to make 16 hh + , preferably middle weight or lightweight.  We looked for weeks then suddenly an advert in the local paper caught our eye and we telephoned to arrange a viewing.  We drove for miles and viewed the colt.  He had been neglected a little, had lice and had suffered from ringworm in the past.  We decided to buy him.  A week later and Benji was home with us.  We de-liced him, bathed him, wormed him and gave him good food.  A month later we took him to his first show and he was placed second out of a class of 15, we were so pleased, no one could believe it was the same colt, it just goes to show that anything is possible with a bit of time and TLC!!!

CROFY'S CALL ME HARRY (HARRY)

Harry is the latest addition to our horsey family.  Myself and a friend decided to buy him to show and bring on.  He was born on 25th April 2006 and his breeding is Cob x Throughbred x Arab.  He has the mind of a Cob (sensible), body of a Throughbred (stunning) and movement of an Arab (perfect and flowing) so all in all a perfect combination for show ring.
